{"id":85,"date":"2015-09-11T11:57:49","date_gmt":"2015-09-11T11:57:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.computationalcreativity.net\/iccc2016\/?page_id=85"},"modified":"2016-05-08T12:06:41","modified_gmt":"2016-05-08T12:06:41","slug":"call-for-papers","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.computationalcreativity.net\/iccc2016\/call-for-papers\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for papers"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><strong>Topics<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p><strong>Original research contributions are solicited in all areas related to Computational Creativity\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>research and practice, including, but not limited to:<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Computational paradigms for understanding creativity, including heuristic search, analogical<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and meta-level reasoning, and representation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Metrics, frameworks, formalisms and methodologies for the evaluation of creativity in<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> computational systems, and for the evaluation of how systems are perceived in society.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Development and assessment of computational creativity-support tools, where the software<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ultimately takes on some creative responsibility in projects.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Creativity-oriented computing in learning, teaching, and other aspects of education.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Innovation, improvisation, virtuosity and related pursuits investigating the production of<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> novel experiences and artefacts within a computational framework.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Computational accounts of factors that enhance creativity, including emotion, surprise<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (unexpectedness), reflection, conflict, diversity, motivation, knowledge, intuition, reward\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">structures,.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Computational models of social aspects of creativity, including the relationship between\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> individual and social creativity, diffusion of ideas, collaboration<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and creativity, formation of creative teams, and creativity in social settings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Perspectives on computational creativity which draw from philosophical, cognitive,<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> psychological and\/or sociological studies of human behaviour put into a context of creative<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> intelligent systems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Computational creativity in the cloud, including how web services can be used to foster<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> unexpected creative behaviour in computational systems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Applications that address creativity in specific domains such as music, language, narrative,<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> poetry, games, visual arts, graphic design, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">product design<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, architecture, entertainment, education,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">mathematical invention, scientific discovery, programming.<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><strong>Paper Types<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p><strong>Papers should be submitted broadly in one of the following five categories:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Technical papers<\/span><\/em><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These will be papers posing and addressing hypotheses about aspects of creative behaviour in\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">computational systems. The emphasis here is on using solid experimentation, formal proof and\/or\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">argumentation which clearly demonstrates an advancement in the state of the art or current\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">thinking in Computational Creativity research. Strong evaluation of approaches through\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">comparative, statistical, social or other means is essential.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><em>System or resource description papers<\/em><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These will be papers describing the building and deployment of a creative system or resource to\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">produce artefacts of potential cultural value in one or more domains. The emphasis here is on\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">presenting engineering achievement, technical difficulties encountered and overcome, techniques\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">employed, reusable resources built, and general findings about how to get computational systems\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to produce valuable results. While the presentation of results from the system or resource is\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">expected, full evaluation of the approaches employed is not essential if the technical\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">achievement is high.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Study papers<\/span><\/em><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These will be papers which draw on allied fields such as psychology, philosophy, cognitive\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">science or mathematics; or which appeal to broader areas of Artificial Intelligence and Computer\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Science in general; or which appeal to studies of the field of Computational Creativity as a\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">whole. The emphasis here is on presenting enlightening novel perspectives related to the\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">building, assessment or deployment of systems ranging from autonomously creative systems to\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">creativity support tools. Such perspectives can be presented through a variety of approaches\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">including ethnographic studies, thought experiments, comparison with studies of human\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">creativity and surveys.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cultural application papers<\/span><\/em><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These will be papers presenting the usage of creative software in a cultural setting, e.g., art\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">exhibitions\/books; concerts\/recordings\/scores; poetry or story readings\/anthologies; cookery\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">nights\/books; results for scientific journals or scientific practice; released games\/game jam\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">entries. The emphasis here is on a clear description of the role of the system in the given\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">context, the results of the system in the setting, technical details of inclusion of the system,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and feedback from the experience garnered from public audiences, critics, experts, stakeholders\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and other interested parties.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Position papers<\/span><\/em><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These will be papers presenting an opinion on some aspect of the culture of Computational\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Creativity research, including discussions of future directions, past triumphs or mistakes and\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">issues of the day. The emphasis here is on carefully arguing a position; highlighting and\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">exposing previously hidden or misunderstood issues or ideas; and generally providing thought\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">leadership \u00a0bout the field in general, or in specific contexts. While opinions don\u2019t need to be\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">substantiated through formalisation or experimentation, justification of points of view will\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">need to draw on \u00a0horough knowledge of the field of Computational Creativity and overlapping\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">areas, and provide convincing motivations and arguments related to the relevance of the points\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">being addressed \u00a0and their importance. \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All submissions will be reviewed in terms of quality, impact and relevance to the area of\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Computational Creativity.<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><strong>Submission Instructions<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Papers should be up to 8 sides in length, and of course papers shorter than 8 sides which make\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a strong contribution are more than welcome. You are welcome to make your papers \u00a0anonymous, but\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">this is not a requirement for the submission.
